Was blue turf ever a classy choice?
The various spills, stains, and unidentifiable debris only made it even less appealing for us to invite people over, so of course we decided to tear it up. Double of course, we were in for a little surprise.
This beautiful tile-looking linoleum. Pretty, right? Do you have a guess as to when this could've been installed? we were thinking maybe the 50's or 60's? Luckily, the home-renovation love was good that day and it peeled up pretty easily.

Muscles made quick work of it. |
Next we sanded that baby down. There were little bits of rubber that were stuck from the linoleum, but they came right off with a little bit of paint stripper. There were probably 3 or 4 layers of paint on the porch and it was dusty! No worries, we took appropriate precautions but does this picture show you had bad it was? Crazy!
Several weeks later we finally got it painted. We had to wait for the weather to warm up, that's a valid excuse right? Any way, we used two gallons of
anti-skid porch paint in Battleship Grey. True story, it's actually more of light blue and ended up making the paint look really yellow. Oh well, another project for another day. Why anti-skid? Well we thought it'd help when it was rainy or snowy outside and it helped cover the
many imperfections that the sander couldn't get out. Was it really necessary? No, but it does a nice job exfoliating the feet.
It looks (and smells) sooo much better than that blue carpet! Now just imagine it with crisp white paint...
